Trendy, Trendier, Trendiest
Divya Thabmani, hair and make-up artist says that temporary, transferable tattoos are a hit with most brides. Jewelled and crystal tattoos (especially those from Swarovski) in various shapes, sizes and colours are popular as they are easy to use and attractive. "The latest trends in bridal body art are add-ons such as diamantes and glitter," says Pooja Arora, also a hair and make-up artist.
Moreover, the bride herself and family and friends can indulge themselves with various kinds and designs of body art. Just stick the tattoo on the desired body part and voila, you have a beautiful piece of art. You can easily wash it off with water.
Such tattoos are easily available at your neighbourhood beauty store, though the range there may be limited.
Nail art has also become an important aspect of bridal art. While the regular nail enamel is okay for cousins and friends, a bride can experiment with a variety of nail art designs to match her outfit and style.
Brides can also dress their nails with fancy studs - small Swarovski crystals over their nail enamel. Those who can afford it could go for a single crystal or diamond stud on their ring finger only.
Different Folks, Different Strokes
According to Rupali Zaveri, a professional mehendi and body art artist, Hindu and Christian brides experiment with body art, whereas Muslim brides go for traditional mehendi or Arabic mehendi.
Body art is not limited only to the hands. Brides can opt for arm bands, decorated necklines, henna tattoos on the upper back and make the designs more attractive by adding glitter.
Says Jyoti Chedda, a professional mehendi and body art artist, "Popular designs these days are scenes depicting the bridal couple or the entire wedding vows and pheras."
There are many choices and the designs are tailor-made to suit your requirements. Depending on the work, prices for body art with glitter and diamantes range from Rs. 200 to Rs. 15, 000. Nail art could range between Rs. 350 to Rs. 1,500.
