A fine line here, a wrinkle there but you have no worries. There are a host of anti-ageing creams you can use. Collagen and retinol are two of the most common ingredients in all creams. Understand your wrinkles and how collagen and retinol arrest those ageing lines.
Know That Wrinkle
Sometimes no matter how much of anti-ageing cream you apply, those wrinkles remain. Well may be it is because is a static wrinkle. These are deeper wrinkles that have already formed a groove on the skin. Static wrinkles respond to botox and collagen implants.
Superficial wrinkles known as dynamic wrinkles can be erased with anti-ageing creams. These wrinkles are wrinkles that are just setting in and sffect just the top layer of the skin.
Calling Collagen
Collagen is a natural essential protein that is the building block of the skin quite literally. It is a connective tissue that holds our body together. It makes up 75% of the skin and keeps it smooth and tight. It controls elasticity and keeps the skin young and wrinkle-free.
Ageing causes the slow production and breakdown of collagen. Remember that biological ageing begins at 25. This is when fine lines and wrinkles start to appear on your face. Remember to care for your skin irrespective of age because if the sun and pollution that it is exposed to.According to Dr. Kalpana Sarangi, Dermatologist and Cosmetologist, collagen creams have limited improvements on skin. However injecting collagen will help replace destroyed collagen. This makes the skin tight and erases wrinkles.
Once your natural collagen production slows down, it is important to use collagen supplements to maintain healthy, wrinkle-free skin. There are collagen injections and creams that erase lines and wrinkles.
You will not need the collagen injections as soon as you touch a quarter century but may want to opt for them later.
Retinol Wonders
Retinol is another important and essential vitamin that helps free your skin off age-lines and wrinkles. It re-models collagen i.e. increases the strength of your skin.
Retinol has particles small enough to penetrate the lower layers of your skin and reach the collagen. This improves fine lines, wrinkles and skin texture keeping it smooth and free of blemishes.
There are retinol creams and capsules available. Always make sure that you buy branded products because compromising on quality may harm your skin.
If Not Collagen and Retinol Then…
Some alternatives to collagen and retinol are:
- A plant extract called Arbutane. It has re-modelling properties.
- Vitamins A, C, D and E, magnesium and potassium. All these have anti-oxidant properties and help in preserving your skin and delaying the aging process.
For the maximum effects of the creams, use a combination of sunscreen, anti-oxidant creams and anti-ageing creams. Use sunscreen during the day and alternate between anti-oxidants and anti-ageing creams in the night.
Younger looking skin is just a few finger-tips away. After all, you are only as old as you want to be.
