You may have heard a lot about sex before and after pregnancy, but never during. Expectant mothers are usually disassociated from sexuality.
Is it safe?
"Sex is safe during a normal pregnancy," informs Mumbai-based gynaecologist Dr Mugdha Raut.
However, refrain from doing it in the first three months of pregnancy. "The foetus is in its developmental stage, where any contraction of the pelvic muscles can lead to a miscarriage," says gynaecologist Dr Kiran Coelho.
But once you pass those important three months, you can resume sex and continue to have it until your seventh or eighth month of pregnancy.
What is a 'normal pregnancy'?
Any pregnancy that has low-risk complications such as pre-term labour or a miscarriage is considered normal.
