CONSIDER the Atkins Diet or the South Beach Diet. Many have tried it and failed or even found some success. But do these fad diets really help your longterm health? According to Nutritionist Sushila Sharangdhar from Mumbai, "No, there is no ideal diet plan as such. So you need to get into mindful eating instead of sinful indulgences."
We bring you healthy options to shed off those pounds. Mix and match these, and voila, you get your own personalised diet plan. Start working on it today!
Whole grains like wheat, jowar, ragi, bajra, oats etc are much more healthy than refined cereals such as maida and its products (white bread, pizza, burger).
Sprouted legumes are highly recommended on a daily basis. Make sure you have up to 2-3 servings of dal and sprouts everyday to get essential nutrients.
Opt for skimmed milk and its products rather than whole milk. Skim the milk by boiling it, cooling it in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours and removing the cream layer. Repeat the process to double skim it!
Milk products such as ghee, butter, margarine, and cheese that are high in calories should be restricted. Consult your nutritionist for exactly how much you can have in a day.
